ERTEE,Romain de Tirtoff


Romain de Tirtoff (23 November 1892 – 21 April 1990) was a Russian-born Frenchartist and designer known by the pseudonym Erté, from the French pronunciation of his initials (pronounced: er-té). He was a diversely talented 20th-century artist and designer who flourished in an array of fields, including fashion,jewellerygraphic artscostume and set design for film, theatre, and opera, and interior decor.

Erté is perhaps most famous for his elegant fashion designs which capture the art deco period in which he worked.

His work may be found in the collections of several well-known museums, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA); as well, a sizable collection of work by Erté can be found at Museum 1999 in Tokyo.

He has been one of my idoles.So I wanted to introduce him here....nilgün yönter  





The very first Irma of ours ! : Gulriz Sururi (Put on at theatre in 1961 by Mr.Haldun Dormen)

 IRMA LA DOUCE was first performed by Mrs.Gülriz Sururi at Dormen Theatre.This role made her win "The Best Woman Player" of Ilhan Iskender at the same year...

And the same play was put on 2 years ago (2013) again by Haldun Dormen at various theatres in Istanbul.Videao belowe is taken from the stage of this recent play:



 I have begun to prepare my latest paintings named "©Irma's Closet" ( Inspired from the famous film character "Irma" of Irma la Douce. 1964 ) towards the end of 2007...First; this exhibition launched with 35-40 pieces of paintings at at 2009. Second time , exhibition completed with 125 "Irma Tableaus" at Novembre 2011.         nilgun yonter
